Hosting FAQ
What is “Website Hosting”?
Once a website design is completed, the site is placed onto a computer
with hosting software and access to the word-wide-web so that it
may be accessed by all computers on the internet. This is known
as "Website Hosting" and MDMate keeps your website operational
24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Many existing and prospective patients use the Internet after
normal work hours to look into a doctor's practice beyond what is
listed in their HMO Provider Directory. In addition, your website
is the center for your practice's e-mail messages and for the transfer
of electronic information to other doctors, pharmacies, hospitals,
etc. Your website needs to be on-line, all the time.
What type of equipment is used to host
my website?
A website consists of many servers and services. We use a combination
of state-of-the-art tools and technology to do the most efficient
job. We utilize multiple levels of redundant hardware and software.
Your web site is protected behind a security firewall. In front
of the multiprocessor RAID enabled web servers are multiple accelerator-caching
servers. In front of the accelerators are multiple load balancers.
Most of our servers are Intel Unix based or Sun Microsystems. We
utilize networking switches and routers from 3Com and Cisco Systems.
Multiple independent fiber channels bring the network to our data
center, which is a converted bank vault. Bandwidth is provided by
three OC12 circuits (AT&T, Broadwing, and Cable & Wireless).
Power is brought into the building by multiple providers and all
equipment is running through a power regulator and UPS that is battery
backed up and diesel backed up. Engineering staff are Hand Scanned
to enter the facility where they are then in a man-trap until proper
identification to security staff then allows them into the vault.
How do I know my data is secure?
MDMate uses the latest in 1024 bit encryption technology to secure
customer information. We are HIPPA compliant with information so
as you move forward with new systems your data is already compliant.
How long will it take graphics and photos
to download to visitor’s computers?
We optimize graphics for use on the Internet and due to the speed
of our equipment and telecommunication connections, your website
will operate at peak Internet speeds. Therefore, the amount of time
that it takes for graphics to build on visitor's computer is relative
to the speed of the visitor's Internet connection. If a viewer has
a high-speed connection such as a cable modem or DSL, your pages
will build within a second or two, if the viewer is using a slower
dial-up connection such as a 28.8 modem, it will take a little longer.
What other services are included with website
hosting?
MDMate Hosting services extend beyond simply keeping your website
on-line 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As part of our hosting
services we also make any necessary corrections to your site to
accommodate changes in content -- address, personnel, insurance
plans you accept, etc. We also offer an “Online Newsletter”
page where you can easily post daily news or any other information
that you wish and change it as often as you wish. This “Online
Newsletter” page is as easy to change as using common word
processing software most people are familiar with. With MDMate you
can be sure that your site content is always accurate.
Along with hosting your website, MDMate will also set-up and support
your e-mail accounts, and offers all of the following:

How do I contact your Technical Support
Department?
MDMate provides technical support to all customers under the terms
of your “Hosting Support Agreement”. Support questions
are handled by telephone and e-mail. Phone and Email support hours
are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time.

You do not need to worry about you website going “down”
due to our redundant servers. But in the case there is a problem,
we will be notified immediately and we do have technical support
personnel on-call 24 hours a day in case of emergency.
Can I host my website with another company?

information profile belongs to your organization, MDMate retains
the copyrights on all layouts, functionality and graphics (other
than those supplied by you) of your website.
You may have your content reworked by another web developer, but
you would almost be starting over and redesigning a new website.

- Online Newsletter page
- E-mail support
- Web-Based Email
