General Features and Benefits FAQ

Why should I get a website?
People are beginning to expect a greater level of interactivity from their Health Care Professionals. Of the over 260 Billion (Nielsen/NetRating) website page views in August 2000, more than 25% were health care related (Healtheon). A greater level of trust and confidence will be created between the Health Care Professional and client when a Health Care Professional can refer clients to his own website, instead of a generic health care portal, for more detailed information on treatment or prescriptions.

By having your own website on the Internet, you can provide current and prospective clients with important information about your practice or organization. A website designed by MDMate can help your clients find the answers to their most pressing health care questions, showcase your facilities and detail the talents, experience and specialties of your staff. If you are looking to grow your practice, a website is an extraordinary means of promoting your organization on the Internet, yet it is only a fraction of the cost of any other means of marketing.

With MDMate’s Online Scheduling Manager, you can easily offer clients online appointments within your website without adding to the cost. See a Demo here.

What information do clients expect to see on a Health Care Professional’s website?
Clients primarily look for the type of information that they might learn after visiting your office -- your location, hours, participating insurance plans, etc. Often they are interested in pre and post treatment instructions. But many clients also want to research the background of the practice and its members. Choosing a Health Care Professional is a very personal decision -- sometimes a client simply wants to see a picture of the practitioner. We have put together summaries of all the pages you might want to include in your website. See them here.

Can I use my logo on my website?
Yes, and it is recommended. If you had a professionally designed logo, the design company should have given you graphics files that we can use. Otherwise we can scan your photo for use on the Internet.

Can I provide my own photos and graphics?
Of course. Your website will look most effective when it includes photography of your staff, facilities and equipment. In order for it to look its best you should arrange to use a professional photographer to take these pictures. Image services are available to correct photographs or remove unwanted items in any pictures.

Can I use photographs of our staff and clients on our website?
Yes -- pictures of associates, staff members and clients add to the uniqueness of your website. If you are submitting any photographs or illustrations of your staff or clients, you will need to complete a General Release Statement signed by all participating individuals. We can provide these Release Forms for you.

What website name can I have?
Will my website be independent or dependent on MDMate.com?
We will register your organization its own domain-name (example: www.yourname.com). You can choose any name you like, provided that it is not already in use. Choose a name that is identifiable with your organization and easy for visitors to remember. You can check if a domain-name is currently available by going to MDMate’s Domain-Name Lookup Page. Your website will be independent meaning that visitors can go straight to your website, they do not have to go through MDMate.

How will visitors find my website?
MDMate automatically lists your website with all major internet search engines such as Yahoo!®, Lycos®, Infoseek®, Snap®, Hotbot® and others. Your site will also be listed with most popular health-related search engines. We will offer you an initial supply of flyers to give to your current clients, and suggest that you add your domain name to your business cards and all other papers that are given to clients.

How can a website increase my new clients?
A website is the “new” way to augment your current advertising. A website is not limited by the same physical boundaries of a traditional ad -- there's plenty of room for explanations, graphics, links to other websites, and photography. Changes can be made as often as you like unlike a yellow pages ad, and the cost is a fraction of yellow page ad space.

What are the legal ramifications to having a website?
Each MDMate website includes a Terms of Use / Liability Disclaimer Page which provides a legal statement regarding the use of your website. Included among other important liability limitations is a specific statement advising visitors that the information provided on your website is not a substitute for medical advice and visitors seeking such information should consult with their health care professional. The Terms of Use / Liability Disclaimer has been reviewed by legal advisors and is similar to those used by hospitals and national research organizations.

How many different pages can I get?
A website designed by MDMate consists of a minimum of 9 pages linked together with easy navigation functions to form your web site. Each page contains content text, applicable graphics and photography to provide a multimedia presentation on the page’s subject.
The number of pages in your website depends upon the type and amount of information you want to portray to new and existing clients. We have put together summaries of all the pages you might want to include in your website. See them here.

What templates can I choose from?
We believe that every website should be unique and therefore do not have “templates” for you to choose from. When you meet with your Account Representative, he/she will be able to get a general idea of what type of look and feel would suit you preferences. Then a graphic designer will design a custom website just for you.

How much does a website from MDMate cost?
Each MDMate website includes a certain number of primary web pages. Start-Up Fees cover the design and implementation costs of these pages. The number of pages in your website has a direct relation to the amount of required storage space on our servers and the data transfer speed of our telecommunications equipment. Therefore, monthly hosting fees are priced in accordance with each pricing level. See Pricing FAQ

We do offer several pricing levels depending on your needs. Call or Email us to discuss your one of a kind requirements.

What information do I need to provide for my website?
We understand that your main focus is not and should not be what needs to be on your website – that is what we are here for. To help you, we have created an information profile for you to fill out that will provide us with the information we need to create your unique website. The profile is comprehensive -- answer as many questions as you feel comfortable with and include as much or as little detail as you think is necessary.

How long does it take for MDMate to build my website?
Our professional copywriters, designers and webmasters can customize your website specifically for your organization and place it on-line in as little as one to two weeks. We do know that some companies claim to be able to complete websites faster. They are using templates, so your website is not unique, and we have found many typographical errors in our competition’s websites and the websites that they design. Some even claim to be able to post a website in 24 – 48 hours. Since it takes about 3 days for domain names to propagate across the Internet, claiming to be able to post a website faster than this shows their lack of professionalism.

Can I make changes to my website once it is up and running?
Of Course. MDMate hosting services extend beyond simply keeping your website on-line. As part of our hosting services we will also make necessary corrections to your site to accommodate changes in address, personnel, insurance plans you accept, etc. We also offer an “Online Newsletter” page where you can easily post daily news or any other information that you wish and change it as often as you wish. This “Online Newsletter” page is as easy to change as using common word processing software most people are familiar with.

What is the difference between MDMate’s products and services?
We have broken it down into two categories to make it easier to understand all that we can do for you. Simply put, services are things you can buy from us if you do not have us design and host your website. Products are items that come included with your MDMate website.

How do I contact your Technical Support Department?
MDMate provides technical support to all customers under the terms of your “Hosting Support Agreement”. Support questions are handled by telephone and e-mail. Phone and Email support hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time. See our Contact Us page.

You do not need to worry about you website going “down” due to our redundant servers. But in the case there is a problem, we will be notified immediately and we do have technical support personnel on-call 24 hours a day in case of emergency.
